Never a factor
Affiliate commission rates, sponsorships, brand relationships, and advertising spend play no role in scoring. The score model has no field for them.
Methodology
Every product position on this site is earned through data — aggregate rating, review depth and recency, price-to-value within its category, and availability. No brand can pay to rank higher, and affiliate relationships never enter the scoring model.
The signals
Rankings start from the live product catalog and combine several independent signals into a single comparable score per category. The weighting is category-aware: review depth matters more in crowded categories like earbuds, while recency matters more in fast-moving ones like laptops.
Aggregate customer rating and total review volume — a 4.6 across 12,000 reviews outranks a 5.0 across 12.
Review recency — products whose recent reviews trend below their lifetime average are penalized.
Price integrity — list prices are checked against 30-day street prices so inflated 'discounts' don't earn deal placement.
Availability and purchase velocity — out-of-stock or declining products fall out of shelves automatically.
What never counts
The ranking pipeline is fully automated and has no input field for commercial relationships — there is structurally no way for a merchant, brand, or affiliate program to influence a score.

Outbound product links are affiliate links and are labeled as such. See the Affiliate Disclosure page for exactly how we earn and why it cannot affect rankings.
Common questions
The catalog is refreshed continuously and shelves are rebuilt daily. A product's position can change any day its underlying data changes — new reviews, a price move, or an availability change.
Amazon's review corpus is the largest consistent source of genuine post-purchase feedback, which is what the scoring model is built on. Where specs match, the ranking is product-first — the merchant is interchangeable.
No. There are no paid placements anywhere on the site, and no mechanism for commercial input into the ranking pipeline.
